Traveling for work or vacation can make sticking to a fitness routine challenging without a little planning. Here are three tips to help you stay active during your travels:

  1. Adjust Your Expectations: Recognize that you won’t be able to maintain your usual at-home fitness schedule while traveling. Be flexible and open to new ways of staying active.
  2. Get Creative with In-Room Workouts: If you’re on a short work trip, try incorporating yoga poses in your hotel room. Use extra bath towels to avoid contact with the hotel carpet for hygiene. Pack a TRX strap (www.trxtraining.com) to hang on a door for a full-body workout or bring compact strength bands like Lebert bands (www.lebertfitness.com). Alternatively, wake up an hour earlier to use the hotel gym. Remember to pack appropriate gym clothes and running shoes if you prefer this option.
  3. Take Advantage of Fresh Air and Walks: Whenever possible, get outside for some fresh air and short walks. Staying active throughout the day is more important than holding out for a full workout session.

With these tips, you can stay fit while on vacation or when on the road for work without feeling overwhelmed.
